LOUISA – Mary McCoy, a resident of Louisa, has filed a lawsuit in the Lawrence Circuit Court against Melinda Pigg and Terry Music, Individually, and against Terry Music Trucking Company for alleged “serious and permanent bodily injuries” which, the suit contends, were sustained on October 27, 2008 when defendant Music “operated the said vehicle in such a negligent and reckless manner so as to cause the collision” with McCoy’s vehicle.
According to McCoy’s complaint filed by Kirk & Crum, PLLC, Music was operating a coal truck on US 23 at Louisa which struck McCoy’s car. The suit further alleges that the coal truck was owned by Melinda Pigg.
McCoy alleges that her “serious injuries” were such that medical care, including surgery, was required and that she has “been caused” to “endure pain, suffering and anguish” for which medical costs are “in excess of $70,000.”
McCoy also alleges that injuries for the crash have caused her to be unable to work and that she has “lost wages” and that her ability to work and earn wages in the future has been impaired.
The lawsuit asks for a “trial by jury” and for compensation for “past and future mental and physical pain and suffering” for “lost wages” and for “past and future medical expenses.”
“This is an unfortunate thing that has happened,” John Kirk said. “Mary has received good medical care. She has a ways to go, but, hopefully she will make a substantial recovery.”
