PRESTONSBURG – A Weeksbury mother has filed a civil action against a school bus driver, the Floyd County Board of Education and the Board’s Safety Director for injuries allegedly sustained by her infant children and herself stemming from an April 2007 crash which resulted from, the civil action alleges, “the intentional or reckless disregard for the safety of other people.
Stacey Scott, a resident of Melvin, alleges in the civil action filed by Kirk & Crum, PLLC, that her infant daughter, Kenzie, was severely and permanently injured in a crash at the intersection of Poplar Fork and Ky. 466 near Weeksbury when the vehicle Stacey was operating was crashed into by a school bus operated by Victor Harper. According to the suit, Kenzie received injuries to her face, brain and spine. Her medical care and treatment needs may exceed $1 million over her lifetime, it is alleged. The suit also alleges that Stacey and her infant son, Gary, were also seriously injured.
Named as defendants were the driver, Harper, the Floyd County Board of Education and Karen Johnson, Director of Transportation for the Board.
