WILLIAMSON—On the early morning of November 16, 2012, Randy Dale Goble left his home just south of Inez at Deboard and traveled toward his work site for Merr Equipment Company near Williamson.
Coincidentally, at about the same time that Mr. Goble left his Inez home, Donald Hill left his third-shift job site near Williamson and started his journey home to Staffordsville, near Paintsville. Reportedly, Mr. Hill had become ill at work and left earlier than usual.
Tragically, while Mr. Goble was traveling on US 52 just east of Kermit and while Mr. Hill was traveling in the opposite direction, something apparently happened to Mr. Hill, something that caused his vehicle to come across the center line and crash head-on with Mr. Goble. The impact was so violent that both persons died at the scene. The crash occurred at a point where a guard rail appeared to have prevented Mr. Goble from swerving away from the on-coming vehicle.
“This is one of the most tragic accidents I have ever seen,” John Kirk said, “two very good, hard working, men dead as they traveled from and to work. It appears that something happened to Mr. Hill, a heart attack maybe that caused him to come into Mr. Goble’s path."
Randy Goble was the son of Dolores Goble and the late Rabon Goble. Randy Goble was the father of Rabon Curtis Goble, Sheena Dale Jude, Randi Machelle Goble and Danesha Goble.
Mr. Goble’s estate, represented by his children and their attorneys at Kirk & Crum, PLLC, Phillip Blair and Kyle Salyer, were able to settle the legal damages aspect of Mr. Goble’s death in proceedings before the Mingo Circuit Court.
“I am very happy and grateful for that,” Kirk said, “because it would have been an additional nightmare for the families to relive the graphic details of a trial.”
